TRIBUTARIES flowing through WA: Carnarvon
Last week, “Tributaries” received a warm reception in Carnarvon as we celebrated the first stop in the exhibition’s journey through Western Australia. I was very pleased to see many members of the community come and engage with presence.
Tributaries has been the culmination of years of my work in multidisciplinary fields from journalism to scientific research –– combining my love for nature and poetry with the handiwork of my craft honed and tested through many years. A convergence of the many streams of consciousness and making that have moved me as an artist.
I extend my thanks to the ART ON THE MOVE Team
(Alex Fuller, Maxxi Minaxi May, Riley Salmon-Lomas, Matt Bairstow, Abigail Moncrieff),
and Cheryl Weston and Rochelle O’Brien at the Carnarvon Library and Art Gallery.
A special thanks goes out to the people who worked tirelessly to display the exhibition. A local team of 12 volunteers and library staff came together to help with the install, which I’m told was a fantastic experience for many involved; having the professional curatorial experience of Maxxi and Riley to learn and benefit from.
I am returning to Carnarvon on May 3–5 to conduct workshops at the library and some local schools. We’ll have much fun creating Wearable Treasures with the schools and Carnarvon creatives.
Next stop, Kalgoorlie!
